Re:Looking for creative marketing ideas - 2006/06/14 19:40 Don't duplicate--accelerate.

Strategize opportunities. Find your uniqueness and emphasize those in your advertising and promotional efforts. Emphasize your strengths to overcome weaknesses.

Take a look at what your competitors are doing. Identify marketing opportunities for your existing customers.

Go ahead and post the answers to these questions and we can help you build specific programs.

1. What are your strengths? Weaknesses?

2. What could you focus on to help build revenue?

Re:Looking for creative marketing ideas - 2006/06/14 19:53 You and your staff can also be creative about ways to boost skier visits. These ideas do not need to be based totally on customer input. They can come form knowing your customers and always being on the lookout for good marketing ideas. No matter what the industry.

Creative tactics usually involve some combination of management-approved promotions and staff-performed "upselling."

Here are some marketing ideas from other ski areas:

-Bundling skiing and another service (e.g., reduced meal price; two for one meal in the restaurant for a full price ticket package; customer appreciation certificates for ski shop merchandise, etc.

-Free lift ticket on customer's birthday - most likely they will bring a paying customer with them.

-Clear upsell procedures and incentives for staff in the office, food service, and retail shop. Incentives are typically a financial bonus tied to a specific sales increase, commission for a sale, a non-financial bonus like extra time off, etc.

-Frequent buyer program at the F&B and/or ski shop.

-Keep staff informed. When using ads or other promotions, make sure all staff see it/know it. Put the ad/promotion in a place where all staff can see it. Describe why it is being used and the expected results.
