The Young and the Wired PDF Print E-mail

In July of 2005,  Pew Internet & American Life Project issued a report stating that teenagers' use of the Web has outpaced that of adults, Burst Media released a study concluding that the Internet is well on its way to becoming the entertainment medium of choice for online consumers between the ages of 14 and 24.

For the study, Burst surveyed 13,000 online users age 14 and over. While the majority of respondents (52 percent) listen to music on the Web, more than three out of four (77 percent) of those between ages 14 and 24 do so. What's more, 39 percent of those 24 and under also reported that they primarily listen to music on the Internet. More than half, 53 percent, of respondents younger than 25 watch movies and other video online, compared to 28 percent of all respondents.

As always, online users of all ages continue to view the Internet as a source of information. Four of five (80 percent) Burst respondents use the Web to learn the latest on topics such as health, while almost half (47 percent) go online for hard news on local, national, or international affairs.
