Banner ads are a form of online advertising where the ad is embedded in the web page. They are there to catch attention and generate page clicks. Banner ads can be very effective and inexpensive if done correctly. They can also be a great waste of time and money if done incorrectly. How do you know the difference? Use our Top 10 Tips to Banner Ads... myMarketingGuide's Top 10 Tips for Effective Banner Ads1. Create visual magnetism with bright colors and contrast between elements. White background are usually the preferred design choice for advertisers since they "fit" almost any design scheme. 2. Large headlines work better than small ones. Keep it simple. Use all your space. 3. Banners are like billboards, which are read by motorists driving at 60 mph who can absorb only a half-dozen words. Don't clutter or use too much copy. No one will read it. 4. Keep it simple. Viewers should know exactly what the ad is about. Image work great, just keep size in mind. The best banners are no more than about 20 kb. 5. Focus on major selling points, emphasizing benefits instead of features. Sell the sizzle. 6. Use words that seize attention, such as "free," "register to win," or "click here for pricing." 7. Include copy such as "click here for details" on the banner. Use it on the right side, not the left side. 8. Don't over-design the ad. Obnoxious is always obnoxious. 9. Limit the number of fonts to two or fewer. One is usually best. 10. Include a call to action. Tell exactly what you want your viewer to do. Otherwise, what's the point?
